EdJoy provides educator-created Learning Spaces where invited learners can experience personal, active, and motivating learning. This Privacy Policy explains how EdJoy collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit our website, request access, participate in early testing, create a Learning Space, or join one by invitation.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to website visitors; educators, trainers, and learning leaders; invited learners; institutions, organizations, schools, and partners; and users who request access to EdJoy or communicate with us.
Learners access EdJoy by invitation to educator-created or EdJoy-approved Learning Spaces.
2. Current testing model
EdJoy Learning Spaces are created by educators, trainers, learning leaders, or approved EdJoy learning leads. Learners do not create Learning Spaces directly unless specifically authorized.
During early testing, EdJoy focuses on higher education, business and professional education, adult learning, and K-12 educator-led pilots with students age 13+ through school authorization and student privacy review.
3. K-12 and minors
K-12 students and minors may use EdJoy only through an educator-, school-, parent-, guardian-, or institution-authorized process, as applicable.
Students under 13 are not part of EdJoy’s standard early testing program and require a separate approved process.
4. Information we collect
We may collect account and contact information; educator and pilot information; learning interaction information; feedback and testing information; technical and usage information; and communications.
5. How we use information
We use information to provide and operate EdJoy; create and support Learning Spaces; personalize learning interactions; generate questions, explanations, practice, reflections, motivating feedback, and progress support; help learners see visible progress; help educators see learning evidence and where intervention may matter; support pilots and early testing; communicate about access, support, and feedback; improve product quality, safety, reliability, and usability; analyze aggregate or de-identified patterns; protect against misuse; and comply with legal obligations.
6. Student data and education records
If EdJoy is used by or on behalf of a school, university, or educational institution, some information may be considered student data or an education record under applicable law.
Where required, EdJoy processes such information under the direction of the institution or authorized educator and only for authorized educational purposes. EdJoy does not use student education records for unrelated commercial purposes.
7. AI processing
EdJoy uses AI to generate and adapt educational interactions, including questions, explanations, feedback, practice activities, reflections, visible progress information, and other learning support.
Identifiable student data is not used to train general-purpose AI models unless expressly authorized by applicable agreements and law.
EdJoy may use aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized information to evaluate and improve product performance, learning design, and safety.
8. Student privacy commitments
For K-12 or institutional student data, EdJoy does not sell student data, use student data for targeted advertising, create commercial advertising profiles from student data, or use identifiable student data to train general-purpose AI models unless expressly authorized.
9. Sharing information
EdJoy does not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help operate EdJoy; educators, trainers, learning leaders, or institutions connected to a Learning Space where appropriate; legal, safety, or compliance authorities where required; professional advisors; parties involved in a business transaction; and others with appropriate consent or direction.
10. Data retention
We retain information as reasonably necessary to provide EdJoy, support testing, improve the product, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
For school or institutional pilots, deletion, return, or retention of student data will be handled according to applicable law and pilot terms.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live and how EdJoy is used, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of certain personal information. If EdJoy is used through an institution, requests involving student records may need to be directed to that institution.
13. Contact forms
Please do not submit student rosters, grades, education records, health information, children’s personal information, confidential employer data, or other sensitive information through website forms.
